What makes a Free Spirit 4x4 Treasure hunt different to all other Pyrenean tours / events?

The clue is in our company name, we feel that guided tours simply restrict you and don't give you the full experience.  The treasure hunt element allows you to explore and feel as if you are the first to have travelled these routes for many years. While we don't always travel with you we are never far from you, usually found taking spectacular photo's of you from angles you simply cannot capture yourself. Every evening we have a get together to catch up on the days experiances and excitements.

What do i get for my money?

The experience of a life time!

We spend months researching the area to find the very best routes and campsites. You receive a road book every day, every campsite is prebooked and included in the entry cost. Your mid week adventurous activity is included as are two traditional meals. We are outdoor enviroment first aid trained also holding outdoor qualifications and have one bush craft trained member of staff, each support crew also we carries road building equipment. Each day we set up challenges and tasks designed to get all your team involved to help you to see, feel and experience the area you are in.

How many off-road miles do we get compared to on road miles?

Every day consists of a broad variety of Mountain roads and un-surfaced routes, no road in the Pyrenees is boring thanks to the spectacular mountains and scenery. Some days are 80% track and 20% road, some days are less but the average is 60 - 70% on tracks.

Is this event suitable for families?

Yes, we have had families along and the children love it every bit as much as the adults. We always aim to get to campsite between 4 & 5 pm give time to explore the local town and relax with other teams.

Why should we pay a company to go to the Pyrenees instead of finding our own way much cheaper?

The answer to this for me is simple (Kieran Johnson, Event Manager), yes you will have a brilliant time going it alone and certainly will have memories like none other. However there is a good reason to go with us, we have spent months researching and exploring the area to find the very best routes and campsites. Not to mention that our support crews carry many tools and ample mechanical knowlegde to keep you going when things with your vehicle don't go to plan. All the campsites and two meals are booked and expecting you, we can also book hotels for you if required, but this is not included in the cost of entry.

I have never travelled in my 4x4 before is this suitable for me?

Yes, the many teams in all of our events have either never travelled off road or long distances in their 4x4 before or don't have vast amounts of overlanding/off roading experience.

Will i damage my vehicle?

In short ... No.

Ok you will add around 2600 miles to your clock and providing you drive with care and follow advice and instructions provided by our event support teams you will be ok.

How long is each day?

As long as you make it, this event is designed for you to complete it at your own pace giving you time to stop and look at things, swim in rivers or simply have a cup of tea 2500m above sea level with an unrivelled view.
